The black Bengal had ruled his home well. Any cat within Darkclan would agree with that statement without hesitation. However, it was no secret that the toms' old age was beginning to work against him. No matter how stubborn his soul was, he could feel Starclan beckoning him home.
It had been just about daybreak when his faithful Heir and friend, Embersight, discovered his body. Curled up in his nest within his den as though he were merely asleep. The toms spirit would watch in sympathy as the smoke tabby grieved their loss, and he whispered a silent apology to leave her just when things were turning difficult.
Darkclan had no Head Guardian, no one to assist the new Queen in her rule, but Froststar had faith in his protege. She would make him proud, he knew.
Froststar would whisper one more goodbye to his clan before turning and disappearing into the stars, and as morning broke, Darkclan awoke to their new Queen and their new chapter.

Ruler of Darkclan | 18 moons | She-Cat
Tears would stain the face of the normally cool and collected, Embersight. But this was no normal morning. Today, she was to take her place of Queen of her Guardians, Protector of the weak, and a light of hope for those who fell beneath her charge.
She wasn't ready for this.
Embersight would dig her claws into the ground as another wave of grief hit her heart. The smoke grey she-cat would bury her nose into the quickly cooling fur of her former King, silently saying a final goodbye before she had to face the rest of her clan. How was she supposed to do this alone? Froststar was gone, she had no Head Guardian to lead with her, and Owlgaze had his paws full with everything already. Embersight only hoped that she had his support in her rise to Ruler status.
Taking a deep breath, the former Heir would turn and exit Froststars den, ears and tail low in a sign that something was wrong. But as she stepped forward, the first rays of the sun shining behind her to highlight her silver and black features, she would stand tall and strong. Just like Froststar had taught her.
"Cats of Darkclan! It is with immeasurable grief, that I report to you that our beloved King Froststar has returned home to Starclan." She knew the news would be met with wails of grief, and she would give her clan a moment before continuing, "As is tradition, I humbly rise to become your Queen. I ask for your patience in this difficult time and for the guidance of those who would be kind enough to give it. Rest assured, that I will be choosing a Head Guardian within the next few days, so for those of you who are interested in the position, be active and prove your worth, for I will be watching."
At the end, Embersight would leap gracefully down from her perch, her intense orange gaze now looking around for their Spirit-Talker.

Was kinda fucked to know that your leader just...died. Like... they weren't supposed to die. Cause, well, they're leader. Froststar had been around since like, FOREVER, so he couldn't just up and die.
It was disbelief mixed with shock for Monkeypaw, who sat almost slack-jawed staring at the ground. Sure, not cat was immortal, and Froststar was old, but...
The fledgling's shoulders drooped, their spiky fur almost seeming to droop flat.
Froststar was really gone huh? He was like... everyone's grandpaw!
Monkeypaw wished he'd gotten to hang out with the old bugger more...
